Non-single-day archive pages show excerpts of posts. Single-day archive pages show full posts.

In case I forget: possibly dump the subcategory organization for easier merged archives. Xero, remind me to tell you what I mean.

On-campus with Linear

8:23 PM - February 14th, 2005

I had an hour-long, on-campus interview with Linear Technology today. It was with the same recruiter that interviewed me in the fall. The interview went fairly well. I worked through all of the problems he gave me—well, with a little help. He said he wanted to bring me in for an on-site interview. But get this—it’ll be in the last week of April or first week of May. Why? You’ll be better prepared to deal with the T0T4L 0WN4G3 then. Okay, he didn’t quite use those words, but really, is there any better way to describe an interview that lasts seven hours?! =(

It’s a scale model of the world’s largest bottle.

12:32 PM - February 16th, 2005

Well, the model presentation is complete and all is well. I even got extra credit, though he didn’t specifically say what for (I think it was the coat hangers). Anyway, one of these days I’ll take some real pictures of the model and post them up for all to see. I might even show them side by side to the real room…ooooooo. Yeah.

Anyway, by now some of you might be wondering what the heck the Titles of my posts are all about. To put it simply, they’re quotes. What they’re from and who said them I’m leaving for you, the loyal readers to find out. After each post, the first person to leave a comment mentioning what the quote is from and who said it will get an honorary mention in the next post. And at the end of each month, the person with the most correct quotes might possibly win a prize. So good luck! I hope it’ll be fun. ;)

Urectum! Here, let me locate it for you.

11:48 PM - February 14th, 2005

Today marked two occasions. First, it now holds the record for the longest amount of time I’ve spent on campus in a single day. I was on campus from 9am until 10:30pm. That’s a long freaking time. Second, this evening was the first rehearsal I went to for Loser. I’m now officially a sound designer. The rehearsal went about three and a half hours and they ran through the show twice. The show is divided into three sub-sections. Big Blonde, Little One, and Mama. Big Blonde was the one they did tonight. I got a script and took about three pages of notes. For BB there’s going to be a live band, three mics, and about 15-20 Voice Over tracks. My job, as designer is to mold all that together into an easy to use format for the sound board op.

There was one thing in particular that I think I could help improve. At one point in the show, one of the dancers is at the mic and starts singing some sort of chant. Each time I heard it, it made me think of Gregorian chants. Next time I see the director I’m going to suggest adding some reverb to the chanting to make it sound like its from a church or something. I think it should be nice, but it’ll be up to the director to make the final decision. Anyway, I’m completely exhausted at this point, so I’m going to turn in for the night.
