The width of the page is as wide as I can get it without incurring horizontal scrollbars for 800x600 users (which includes me). I could have a styleswitcher to bump up page width, but all progress is at the mercy of my other commitments.</description>

There's just too much scrolling to do (particularly on a laptop screen) with the uncommonly narrow column width (uncommon relative to other weblogs, that is). Good case in point is X's latest update.</description>

					<description>I think it's okay to just have numbers in the parentheses. It'll be obvious quickly enough, after someone clicks on an archive link for the first time. Besides, it looks too repetitive and text-y to have the word 'comments' all the time.</description>
