That's exactly the same reasons I did not (and probably will not) buy a DS. I do think there are some nice games coming out for it but by then the next Gameboys release will be eminent. If the rumors have any truth to them, it'll be worth skipping the PSP for.

Therefore PSP = teh sux
DS = teh sux
GBA = 0wnz
next GBA = more 0wnz

For Meteos and ZooKeeper (essentially Bejeweled), using the stylus is much more natural (select a piece and drag) than using a d-pad. For other games (Mr. Driller), admittedly, a d-pad is more natural; stylus input is just a gimmick.

When I went home over break, I played my first generation Nintendo GameBoy whose screencover had fallen off a long time ago. It was rather nostalgic, but I felt lame. :P

I've seen the DS, but I wonder at the gameplay. How did the stylus work out for games? It seems so awkward to me... I feel like a gamepad is much more natural for playing.

I'm sad.

I agree that the DS library is disappointing for anyone that's not a puzzle game fanatic. In its zeal to create innovative games, Nintendo has once again fallen victim to the argument that its systems don't have enough games. I fully expect the DS to have a strong lineup next year because Nintendo always seems to put out its best stuff well into a console's lifetime (e.g. Four Swords, Jungle Beat, and the upcoming Zelda for the GC). But yeah, that's next year and the "portable console war" might be over by then.

I understand your decision, but I'm still sad to see another convert to Sony's "Playstation culture": cookie-cutter games and bad gaming decisions (for the PSP, games costing $40 or $50 and the use of UMDs and Memory Stick Duos).

As for me, I'll be getting a DS with my first paycheck. I'm a total puzzle fanatic, so it's a no-brainer for me. As good as Lumines sounds and looks, its gameplay is subpar. Meteos (June) >>> Lumines. And there's Mr. Driller, which I'd rather not live without.
