I don’t think there are signs for any laptop batteries. A couple years ago, my Dell laptop battery just shut off and never worked since. Big paperweights are all they are at that point.

I don’t think there are any warning signs. Once it stops charging, it’s already dead.

I’m pretty sure the name is a blend of NASCAR and NATional Semiconductor (the sponsor). If it were an acronym, they would say so somewhere on the NATCAR site.
