Batman Begins

8:47 PM - June 17th, 2005

Yesterday I went to go see the new Batman movie, and as a huge Batman fan, I just have to say that this movie is awesome! It’s everything a Batman fan could want. They didn’t try to be exactly like the comic books, and that’s a good thing. They took the basics and created their own storyline and I’m here to say that it is good! They even ended it with the possibility of a sequel starring none other than my favorite “Mista Jay“. ;) Also, the fact that the cast was mostly unknowns worked out better than you could imagine. Anyway, if you’ve ever liked Batman, you owe it to yourself to go see this movie. You won’t regret it!

Half-Life 2 (PC)

7:39 PM - March 16th, 2005

I recently got Half-Life 2 and have been playing through it nonstop. Well, ok, I’ve been stopping every now and then, but only because this game is that amazing. This game keeps me on edge so much, that my body has been getting too much adrenaline and my nerves are shot. If I play too long without stopping, I start feeling completely sick. That is how awesome this game is. At this point I’m about halfway through with the game, and I haven’t even started playing anything online.

Not only does this game have some of the greatest graphics I’ve ever seen, but the gameplay is so realistic, you’d swear you were actually there. One of the highlights of this game is it’s physics. Everything in the game has perfectly realistic physics. They’re so integral to the game, that it even gives you a Gravity Gun to pick things up and shoot at people. For example, shooting a can of soda at a guard? Not very effective. Shooting a cinder block, muuuch more effective. Anyway, as soon as I get further into the game and can tear my self away from it long enough, I’ll write a full review for you guys. Till then, I’ll be off throwing cardboard at zombies.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon)

7:36 PM - February 22nd, 2005

Last night Nickelodeon ran the hour long premier of Avatar: The Last Airbender and I thought I’d write a small preview for you guys. I first saw a commercial for this show and thought, wow, an anime on Nickelodeon? How weird is that going to be. I didn’t really have high expectations, but the preview looked interesting, so I figured what the heck, I’ll Tivo it. After watching it, however, I am hooked! Unlike most anime that we see on TV, Avatar was made by Nickelodeon Studies themselves and not imported from Japan. The voice acting is pretty good and the animation is fantastic.

The story is about a world at war. There are four different factions: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water, with the Fire nation waging a war against all the other tribes for the past 100 years. Each clan has people who can manipulate their particular element, called Benders. Legend tells of the Avatar, a warrior who can master all four elements. The show starts off with a young Waterbender and her brother discovering a child trapped in the ice. After freeing him, they learn that he is an Airbender, and the story takes off from there. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who wants to actually see it.

With a perfect mix of action, humor, and childish delight, Avatar: The Last Airbender is shaping up to be an excellent series. You can catch the hour long premier again Wednesday at 6:00PM or Friday at 7:00PM, right before its weekly time-slot, every Friday at 8:00PM on Nickelodeon.

Robot Chicken (Cartoon Network)

12:08 AM - February 21st, 2005

Just watched the Series premiere of Robot Chicken and I thought I’d leave a little note for those of you who missed it. It’s good.

What? You want more? *sigh* fine. It’s really good. And by really good, I mean one of the funniest thing’s I’ve seen in a long time. Essentially, it’s a stop-motion animation show. Using action figures from the past and present and some of the most talented comical writers I’ve encountered, Robot Chicken is a feast for all. Some examples of skits and action figures include Pikachu and Squirtle in a scene together with Squirtle finally breaking character (”Kids! Just read a book!”). Not to mention, Optimus Prime having Prostate Cancer, and President Bush declaring that Tacos are great!

Anyway, for those of you who missed it, be sure to catch the premier again Thursday night at midnight, and a new episode every Sunday night at 11:30 PM.
